10 questions with Avril Ann DeLuca
Time once again for another interview with a beautiful cosplayer. This time I had the pleasure to interview the always beautiful, Avril Ann DeLuca.
My name is Avril and would you believe I'm from Perth, Australia? I'm a long way from home now that I live in Florida lol
2. How did you discover cosplay?
I have always liked superheroes, but meeting my husband online (on a Power Rangers msgboard haha) and going to MegaCon with him really got me going. Our friends likened me to Mary Marvel the most, so I thought why not?
3. What characters have you cosplayed in the past?
I started cosplaying as Dark Mary Marvel in 2008, then I got some Birds of Prey graphic novels and just LOVED Lady Blackhawk so I got that made, and the latest was 70s Supergirl with the hotpants. I did that one b/c it's not something you see often :) I also wanted to rock the blonde hair without a pilot's hat -_^
I haven't worked with any sites, so I guess your blog is the first one :)
5. Who is your favorite character to cosplay?
I don't think I have a favourite character to cosplay as since my costumes get all different reactions. Dark Mary Marvel allows me to play with evil, seductive expressions, Lady Blackhawk is just lots of fun, and Supergirl is strong. I like the diversity.
6. Do you read comics? If so, what are your favorites?
There aren't any comics that are my favourite right now. I really enjoyed Blackest Night and I like Brightest Day right now, and anything Birds of Prey, really. I dig the girl power lol I really hope Mary Batson gets some powers back at some point.
7. Are you a gamer, if so what is your favorite game and on what system?
8. What are your future plans in terms of cosplay?
I am working on a DC Comics Isis costume right now, but the lady making my accessories is very busy, so I think it will be cutting it close for MegaCon 2011. I would really like to dress as Adora, but only if my husband was Seahawk ;)
I still like to play dress up at home when I'm bored. I like to put on full makeup, play with my hair and take photos and upload them to facebook which seems to have a wider audience. MegaCon is our main haunt, but I'm going to try and get to a comic store's anniversary bash in November and I'll try to dress up for that :)
10. What would you say is your favorite genre to cosplay?
I love heroes... more partial to DC heroes, and anything 80s! HE-MAN and SHE-RA for the win!

10 questions with Kristen Tedeschi
Time for another interview with a cosplay cuttie. Today's interview is with the up and coming cosplay sensation Kristen Tedeschi.
1. What is your name and where are you from?
2. How did you discover cosplay?
I discovered cosplay back in high school when a couple of friends would go to conventions. Sadly I never got to start until just recently. I'm a newbie !
3. What characters have you cosplayed in the past?
I've cosplayed Kitty Pryde, Wonder Woman, Jean Grey black queen, and Mary Jane so far.
4. What sites have you worked with?
I haven't worked with any sites yet but I will hopefully be soon.
I don't have a favorite. I would like all my characters I cosplay as to have equal favoritism right now.
6. Do you read comics? If so, what are your favorites?
I read ALOT of Manga more than American comics but I do love X-Men.
7. Are you a gamer, if so what is your favorite game and on what system?
I'm not much of a gamer but I do love to play when I'm in the mood.
The most recent would be League of Legends on the computer.
8. What are your future plans in terms of cosplay?
I would like to get/make some more costumes first and do some more photo shoots and attend some more conventions.
I don't have a favorite place to show of my costumes. Its just where ever I can for right now.
10. What would you say is your favorite genre to cosplay?
Honestly I don't have a favorite, I just pick characters I like from everywhere.
Super Powers Firestorm Comic
Remember the Super Powers cartoon from the '80's? Remember the kick ass action figures from the show that came with mini comics? Well, I do and with the help of some friends, I managed to get a full copy of the Firestorm comic to share with my friends. I want to take this time to thank Firestorm Fan for he was one of the people I was able to get this wonderful scans from. Enjoy!
Finch Fridays
For today's installment of Finch Fridays, I decided to use a pic of one of my favorite heroes, Firestorm, who came back as a Black Lantern in the Blackest Night event that attacked DC Comics.

10 Questions with Panda Valentine
1. What is your name and where are you from?
My name is Panda and I’m from all over the place.
I was born and raised in Australia, in the rural north west of New South Wales. My high schooling was done on the East Coast of Australia in Sydney. At 20 I moved to San Diego, California, USA and in September of 2010 I moved to Rhode Island.
2. How did you discover cosplay?
3. What characters have you cosplayed in the past?
To date, in chronological order:
Pan from Dragonball GT.
Emma Frost – Uncanny X-Men.
The Scarlet Witch – Avengers.
The Goblyn Queen – Uncanny X-Men
Vampirella – Independent
Star Sapphire – Green Lantern.
Zatanna Zatara – Various DC Titles.
SuperWoman (Lucy Lane) – Super Girl.
I also have a Sharon Carter from Captain America and SHIELD and a Black Canary from DC that are complete costumes but have yet to see convention floor time.
4. What sites have you worked with?
I’ve not worked with any sites and I am not associated with any website in particular. I’ve done a couple interviews here and there and have a cosplay.com profile but that hardly counts.
I’m not opposed to the idea of working for websites at all, it’s just something that hasn’t occurred in my life yet.
5. Who is your favorite character to cosplay?
Vampirella, thus far. She is so much fun. People always want me to bite their necks!
I do read comics, absolutely. I’ve read a little bit of everything in the 20 years I’ve been reading comics but I always come back to Uncanny X-men. I have a lot of love for the stand alone series like Kingdom Come and Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E, though.
7. Are you a gamer, if so what is your favorite game and on what system?
I am so very much guilty of being a Gamer girl. My current addiction is City of Villains, Going Rogue (All hail, Emperor Cole!) but before that I played Everquest for almost 10 years.
I’m a fan of the Final Fantasy series on whichever Playstation console they are out on. My favorite was Final Fantasy 8, mainly for Quistis, the spunky redhead with a whip. Let’s face it, who doesn’t love a hot redhead in glasses, brandishing a whip and asking you to call her “teacher”?
8. What are your future plans in terms of cosplay?
Black Canary and Sharon Carter for sure. I’m also planning Savage Land Rogue which will be worn at SDCC 2011 and hopefully Psylocke.
I’m also hoping to branch out a bit from purely comic book cosplaying in the near future. I’d love to dress up as Ghost Widow or Black Swan from City of Villains and maybe Christine’s Think of Me dress from the Phantom of the Opera movie someday.
9. Where do you like to show off your costumes the most?
San Diego Comic Con in person and on my Facebook in the online realm. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=820205600
I’ve only done super hero/ comic book cosplays so far if you discount Pan, which is easily done because it was thrown together in a weekend and worn to a tiny little convention in Australia where I was 1 of 2 people in costume.
Super hero cosplaying treats me right, so I’d have to say that until I find something better, that is definitely my first love.
Apache Chief Sketch
I felt like revisiting one of my favorite sketches today. Since I lost some of my older posts, (my devoted readers may recognize some posts) I will revist them from time to time. The topic for today's post is a a sketch I did for the Superfriends character Apache Chief. I always did like that character.

Shadowland
I have been reading the Shadowland stroy line from Marvel and I have some questions. I know I am not a regular reader of Daredevil, so the event that caused him to join the Hand and build a castle called Shadowland escapes me. The writer's do a great job catching you up. But there is one thing that keeps gnawing at me. How the hell did Fraken-Castle become normal again? Don't get me wrong, the Punisher is my favorite vigilante but how did he go from being the walking dead to look like nothing happened? I know in the Franken-Castle has the blood stone that is supposed to heal him, but the timing between the books is off. Maybe one of my readers can fill me in.
Besides the Punisher question, Shadowland is a great read and you should check it out!

10 questions with Amaya De'Morte
1. What is your name and where are you from?
My name is Jesse and I'm a born and bred Small Town Texas girl. We can call it Dallas, though. It's easier that way.
2. How did you discover cosplay?
I had friends that were into it in highschool, eventually they brought me along and I didn't look back sense!
Gawl, that's a long list. I've been doing this too many years to recant that many costumes. Hint, though. It's more than 20. Its been anywhere from Anime and Video games to Sci Fi and of course.. comics.
4. Have you worked on any sites?
Nope! Unless you count my facebook page.
6. Do you read comics? If so, what are your favorites?
I'd be in the wrong hobby if I didn't! I keep up with all the current story lines as best as my wallet allows (really though, that's just too much to list.) My favorites range from the usual types- Like Green Arrow and the recent Batgirl Series. Of course, the various characters I've done I've also read their comics. I also adore the hawkman series. Favorite artists, hands down, is Bachalo, Dodson, Mike Diodato, Silvestri, and the late great Michael Turner.
7. Are you a gamer, if so what is your favorite game and on what system?
I'm really not a huge gamer, but I do enjoy them on occasion. I love fightergames especially, the arcade style. I tear up Killer Instinct, and love Capcom versus Marvel (or SNK, too!) But, if I had to list two favorte games as my upmost favorites, it'd be Metal Slug Series and Devil May Cry Series.
To have fun. Above all, I do this to just have fun. If we're talking what costumes.. well, that's alot. For Dragon*Con I'll have Huntress, Black Widow II, Crystal, and Sister Grimm.. along with some others.
9. Where do you like to show off your costumes the most?Conventions! Ok, that's a cop out answer.
I have two conventions that really are my favorite places to go and show off. Of course there's Dragon*Con- which is likely the most fun I've ever had at a convention ever, and then locally a convention called All Con. (Dallas, for those of you who forgot in the course of this interview where I'm from) It's really alot like a small dragon*con and is the best little convention I've ever had the pleasure of attending. If you're ever in the Dallas area, you absolutely should go!
rock climbing, travelling, various kinds of rpgs (as long as it's not Final Fantasy- my attetion span is too short for those), Sewing.

10 questions with Kearstin Nicholson
1. What is your name and where are you from?
Kearstin Nicholson, Chicago IL (suburbs!)
2. How did you discover cosplay?
I actually started in 2009! I have been going to conventions for a few years now, and I got so excited seeing characters I got jealous and said "I want to do this! This is amazing!" and up and started! I had never sewn before in my life, and it wasn't until February of this year (2010) I started to teach myself. It's been very frustrating but very rewarding at the same time! My character to-do list is getting ridiculously long!
So far I have 12 characters completed: Phoenix, Dark Phoenix, White Phoenix of the Crown, Phoenix in The Last Stand, 90's Jean Grey, Scarlet Witch, Mystique, Ms Marvel, Sailor Jupiter, Mary Jane Watson, Elastigirl, Wonder Woman,
4. What sites have you worked with?
Back in the day I used to be on quite a few websites for modeling, one also associated with Suicide Girls, however, now I'm freelance and have my own website. These days I join forums instead of modeling sites haha.
5. Who is your favorite character to cosplay?
What, you can't tell? LOL Jean Grey!
6. Do you read comics? If so, what are your favorites?
Of course I do! I'm a Marvel fan for sure, but my heart definitely belongs to X-Men. The idea of mutation I feel every one can safely agree wishes were true. Comic reader or not!
7. Are you a gamer, if so what is your favorite game and on what system?
I sure am! I own plenty of systems: XBOX, SNES, NES, Sega, PS1, PS2, Wii, original Gameboy. These days it's been a lot of XBOX. Recently, XBOX had corrupted my account AND my gamertag, so I had to get a new completely different account, with an unrecoverable gamertag, so I had to start over. I'll never be able they say to get my old tag back, let alone all of my achievements. It's frustrating!
8. What are your future plans in terms of cosplay?
The list is seriously in the 80's. I love spandex and I love original or colorful costumes, so expect those. Since I love X-Men so much, not just Jean Grey, I could go on forever and ever just busting out different uniforms of all their universes, so don't be surprised when another Jean or a redheaded costume gets completed! I do feel I want more video game and anime characters on my completed list, but I'm more a comic head than an anime kid.
9. Where do you like to show off your costumes the most?
Conventions! I love them! Lately I've been asked to be a booth babe in costumes at conventions, as well as invited to star at events for children. Which can be fun... when the kid can recognize my character!
10. What would you say is your favorite genre to cosplay?
Comic books for sure. No doubt about it. I do feel as soon as my skill and money increases, I will branch out on the more intricate or complex costumes from crazier stories!
